QING DYNASTY
cast seated in dhyanasana on a lotus throne with
beaded edges with hands held in dhyanamudra,
the face with a serene expression adorned with
an urna on the forehead, the hair neatly tied into
a knotted jatamukuta behind a ve-leaf crown,
adorned with ornamental jewelry, including
earrings, beaded necklaces, bracelets, armbands
and anklets with inset stones, dressed in a
diaphanous dhoti with the folds piled elegantly
below the ankles, the base incised with a double
vajra radiating from a lotus medallion

legs, and crisply cast with a broad taotie mask
band divided by six vertical notched anges all
below a pair of upright handles on the rim

A BRONZE TRIPOD CAULDRON
the rounded sides of the body rising from three
slender multi-faceted legs, the rim of the vessel
inverted to accommodate a lid, two upright
handles emerge from the horizontal band
demarcating the rim, the whole lightly encrusted
with green, red, and black patination
