A PAIR OF ARCHAIC BRONZE RITUAL WINE 17TH / 18TH CENTURY

HAN DYNASTY of square section raised on a conforming splayed foot and
rising to a circular neck, anked by a pair of lion-mask handles,
each of globular shape rising from a cylindrical foot to a the corners cast with six raised horizontal bands
waisted neck and aring mouth, unadorned aside from a pair Height 6⅜ in., 16.2 cm
of applied taotie masks supporting loose-ring handles at the See a related 17th century cong vase, slightly smaller in size
shoulder and a raised band around the mouth rim (2) and without the lion-mask handles, sold in our Hong Kong
Height 7¼ in., 18.4 cm rooms, 3rd-4th May 1994, lot 395.

ears, beneath upcurved bovine horns with hollow tips, the wide
upper jaw de ned by an out-curved snout forming a hook set
to either side with a pair of hooked fangs, the surface with
scattered green encrustation (2)
