It’s seven thirty/It’s a half of
seven
After we can tell the time correctly, the next thing we will learn is how to ask
and tell the time? So, to make you understand please read the language
expressions that are used in asking and telling the time below:
Language Expression of Asking Time:
- What time is it?
- Could you tell the time?
- Do you know what time is it?
Language Expression of Telling Time:
1. It’s 02.00 O’clock
2. It’s a quarter of five
3. It’s ten past forty
IMPORTANT NOTE!
a) A quarter = ¼ / 15 minutes
b) A half = ½ / 30 minutes
c) Past for the number of minutes less than 30 minutes, (minutes + past
+ hour skipped)
d) To for the number of minutes that are more than 30 minutes (minutes
less + to + hour to go)
e) a.m. = Ante Meridiem (Latin) means before noon.
f) p.m. = Post Meridiem (Latin) means after noon, after 12 noon.
g) 10 a.m. = ten o'clock in the morning
h) 10 p.m. = ten o'clock at night
