In this article journal shows the development of the internet over the past four decades has had a

profound impact on society as a whole, and in particular on the field of library and information
science: it has been strong, involving processes, functions, services, media and information
resources: the library as a whole. Knowledge professionals [1] today live online, linked,

"plugged-in" their working life in a way, remote access to resources clears out physical libraries
(Agee and Antrim, 2003), transforming them into cybraries, wall less libraries (Croud et al.,

2002). In an age in which technology, particularly internet-related technologies, has become
fundamental in every library operation and service, but also in the information habits of users and
people in general, this literature review was conducted primarily to enable librarians and

information professionals' perceptions and expectations of the new information environment to
emerge – how do they practice.
