1) Objectives
First, the objective structure. The goal is what you want to do in the procedure
text. Usually found in the title or first paragraph of the procedure text which is
explained briefly.
2) Material
The second structure of procedural text is Material. In this section, you can
write down the tools, materials, or things that need to be prepared to make
something. Usually there is a certain measure, amount, shape or color so that
readers get maximum results.
3) Steps
Third, the structure of the steps, namely the stages or processes for making
something. Write in clear, logical, systematic, and straightforward sentences
so that readers don't get confused.
3. The characteristics of the Text Procedure
1) Contains active verbs.
2) Is universal, aka everyone can follow it.
3) Contains the stages or sequence of activities to do something.
4) Using adverbs that state details of time, place, size, and so on.
5) Using imperative sentences, either asking or forbidding. Example: 'pour out',
'don't', 'insert', and so on.
6) Use conjunctions or connecting words to connect each stage. Example: 'next',
'after that', 'then', and so on.
4. Types of Procedure Text
There are 3 types of procedure text, namely: simple, protocol, and complex. So that
they are not confused, here is an explanation of each type!
1) Simple Procedure Text
Simple procedure text contains steps or material that is not too many, usually
requires 2-4 stages to do it. Because it is simple, the sequence cannot be
reversed.
Examples of simple procedure text: "How to turn on a laptop", "how to use a
flash disk", and others.
