it is in an Old Covenant church. These churches put the spotlight

shining on ME to see how well I perform and behave. It’s designed to

make me feel guilty so I behave and perform better.

This spotlight shines so brightly on us that it blinds us to the

glorious gospel of Christ (II Cor 4:4). As Paul says in Romans 10:2-3

and Philippians 3:9 that we looked at, it is a humanistic religion that

creates self-righteousness and either pride or guilt in us. Both pride

and guilt are the result of self-righteous living.

However, if the spotlight is put on Jesus, where it should be,

looking at all the things he has done for us, then it is a New Covenant

gospel-preaching church. It is ‘The Ministry of Life,’ which is a whole

lot better than a church that preaches ’The Law of Sin and Death.’

Let me share something with you very practical about the
gospel of Christ. First, let me ask: should the Christian life produce

GOOD fruit in us? Should we do GOOD things rather than BAD?

The question is almost trite. OF COURSE we should do good rather

than bad. God is a good God, and as His sons and daughters, we

should be good people. That’s really a no-brainer.

The question becomes: HOW do we do good things.
