Is it through religious humanism, pride, and self-righteousness,
—or is it by the power of God? “Having begun in the Spirit, are we
now made perfect by the flesh?” (Gal 3: 3).
The answer is NO! That’s what the Old Covenant churches
preach. The power of God is in the gospel, and it is the gospel that
brings forth good fruit from us. In Colossians 1:5-6 Paul says, “For
the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof you heard
before in the word of the truth of the GOSPEL, which is come unto
you . . . and brings forth (good) fruit...”
Figuratively speaking, what non-gospel churches do
is they plant apple seeds into us
in an effort to raise pumpkins.
They plant the law into us to get us to live better.
But the law is the strength of sin (I Cor 15:56).
The oldest truth in the Bible is in Genesis 1:
“Things grow after their own kind.”
You can’t preach law and produce good fruit.
In their effort to make us Godly, they actually turn people away
from God. WHY? It’s because they are trying to accomplish the
impossible. That’s what the law was designed to show us: it is
impossible to live by it. All who tried to live it failed (Acts 15:10).
All law-preaching churches produce is condemnation and guilt.
They produce fear. They produce anger and strife and contention.
