THE GOSPEL is what I call ‘the great equalizer.’ We are all very

equal at the foot of the cross of Jesus. There is much less distinction

made for sex, age, race, color, education, position, wealth, or anything

else. We compare ourselves to each other much less. Instead we live
more with the mind of Christ that sees everyone as a child of God:

“I see in you the glory of my King.” We see more through the eyes

of God — who sees us all as equals.

When we don’t see each other as equals, it is harmful to us.

We compare and compete with others instead of completing each

other in the love of God. We tend to separate from each other, and
even our relationship with God is hindered. This is most often the

cause of alienation in families, and friends. It leads to separation and

                 divorce more than otherwise.

If you live in an Old Covenant, non-gospel preaching church,
you are damned if you do, and you are damned if you don’t. If this is

not hell on earth, I don’t know what is.

What is the acid test? It’s what I said before:

while you’re in church, look at where
                                       the SPOTLIGHT most often shines.

Is it most often shining on YOU, or on JESUS?

In the gospel, it shines on JESUS, on his finished work and on

his blessings and empowerment. It should only be shining on you
concerning your faith in him, so when He returns, He will find ‘faith
