        Accidents & Incidents



        It is our policy to maintain an environment that is free from accidents and injury. This can be
        achieved by following guidelines in the Health & Safety procedure, by recognising risk and
        potential hazards and good housekeeping. Should an accident or injury occur then the
        following procedure should be followed.


        1.     Assess situation and make safe area surrounding the incident
        2.     Summon staff help if required
        3.     Administer First Aid if required
        4.     Summon GP, Ambulance or other professionals if required
        5.     Complete accident book
        6.     Notify Manager and Proprietor of Accident if not on duty
        7.     The manager should, if the accident or situation be serious enough contact RIDDOR
               & Care Commission
        8.     A risk assessment should be made, and the manual updated if required
        9.     If the incident was with a resident a note should be entered in the daily notes and if
               necessary, a review of the individual’s care plan be set.
        10.    Enter the findings of the incident in the Communication Book to make aware to all
               staff the risk and to prevent further occurrence.
