Allocation of CN III/CN IV Positions
The hiring manager and director will review CN III and CN IV allocations and budget to ensure that the unit may
support the position requested.
All FTEs managed are considered for calculation of CN III and CN IV (includes RN, NA, CST, HUC, etc.). The manager
may combine several cost centers to increase numbers to qualify for more allocations.
• One CN III is allocated for every 10 FTEs
• One CN IV is allocated for every 25 FTEs
Compensation
Increases to pay will be made according to promotional level, as outlined below. In all cases, a greater increase will
be provided if necessary to meet the minimum for the job classification (determined by Nursing Employment (NE)/
HR Recruitment).
• CN II to CN III Base Salary Increase - $1.93/hour
• CN III to CN IV Base Salary Increase - $2.93/hour
• CN II to CN IV Base Salary Increase - $4.86/hour
Annual Evaluation
After initial promotion to the CN III or CN IV role, the department manager is responsible for ensuring the nurse
continues to meet the Standards and Behaviors of their clinical level through the annual evaluation process.
The CN III or CN IV need not reapply or resubmit a professional portfolio at any point unless seeking a new
promotional opportunity.
Application and Promotion Process: Internal Candidate
1. Completing the Intent to Advance
Applicants should submit an Intent to Advance form to their manager 2 to 6 months before application
and portfolio submission for the CN III or CN IV position.
The Intent to Advance form may be submitted to the manager even if a position is not currently posted in
iNFOR.
When reviewing the Intent to Advance, the manager and applicant will discuss readiness for advancement
and create a plan for any necessary professional development.
The nurse manager will keep a copy of the Intent to Advance form in the employee’s file. The employee
will keep the original and include it in their professional portfolio.
