                   4.  Conducting Interviews


                       Interviews using the Hiring for Excellence (HfE) process are required for CN III positions with multiple
                       applicants and all CN IV applicants.

                              Note: Interviews are not required for CN III positions in a unit when there is a single applicant.
                              The hiring manager may choose to hold an interview using the HfE process if desired.

                       NE will set up interviews for selected applicants. Applicants from outside the Division of Nursing are
                       processed through HR Recruitment and the hiring manager/designee will schedule interviews.

                       Minimum interview requirements for an internal CN III position with multiple applicants:
                          •   2 HfE Interviews
                                 o  The hiring manager conducts 1 of the HfE interviews
                          •   Staff Panel Interview is optional
                        Minimum requirements for Internal CN IV position with single or multiple applicants:

                          •   3 Hfe Interviews
                                 o  The hiring manager conducts 1 of the HfE interviews
                          •   Staff Panel Interview is required
                                 o  Coordinated by the hiring manager and NE
                   5.  Selection of the Candidate


                       After conducting all interviews, the hiring manager will select the final candidate.
                       The hiring manager signs the completed portfolio of the selected candidate. This signature verifies that
                       the portfolio meets the Standards and Behaviors for advancement.
                       Next, the hiring manager presents the portfolio to the service line director or associate director for
                       approval and signature. This signature verifies that the portfolio meets the Standards and Behaviors for
                       advancement.
                   6.  NPAS Verification of the Portfolio


                       The hiring manager or designee submits the signed portfolio of the selected candidate to the NPAS
                       committee.

                          •   Hard-copy portfolios may be submitted in the NPAS Dropbox in the Center for Nursing Excellence
                               th
                              (4  Floor Old Infirmary) outside of Suite 6.
                          •   Electronic portfolios may be submitted via email to NursingProfessionalA@unchealth.unc.edu
                       The NPAS committee reviews and verifies the portfolio and notifies the hiring manager.
                   7.  Submitting the Offer


                       The hiring manager submits the official offer of the candidate through iNFOR and NE/HR recruitment.
                       Include the emailed notification of verification from the NPAS Committee with the offer.
