2. Building the Portfolio
After submitting the Intent to Advance, the candidate should begin assembling their portfolio and working
on any professional development plans discussed with the manager.
The professional portfolio for CN III/CN IV must include:
• Intent to Advance form
• Cover Page with manager and director signature
• Portfolio Application
• LMS transcript for the last 12 months
• Curriculum vitae or resume
• Self-assessment essay
• 2 Recommendations to Advance from nursing colleagues
o For CN IV applications, 1 recommendation must be from the hiring manager.
o Additional letters of recommendation from nursing or interprofessional colleagues may
be included, as desired.
The NPAS committee offers several resources for support in building the portfolio. Contact the committee
chair, your service line representative, or visit the NPAS SharePoint site for more information about:
• NPAS Nursing Professional Portfolio Class
• Individual coaching and one-on-one support
3. Application in iNFOR
When ready, the hiring manager submits a request to recruit for the CN III and/or CN IV positions in
iNFOR. Positions may be posted for internal or external applicants. Positions must be posted for a
minimum of 5 days or following the current HR guidelines.
Once posted, interested parties may complete the application in iNFOR. Applicants must submit their
completed portfolio to the manager within 7 days of applying in iNFOR.
The hiring manager will review submitted portfolios for completeness and verify the portfolio reflects the
Standards and Behaviors of the position.
Note: The hiring manager is responsible for moving forward to interviews with only those
applicants who have submitted satisfactory portfolios. Incomplete portfolios that do not meet the
requirements for the posted position should be returned to the applicant.
NE/HR Recruitment will screen completed iNFOR applications based on the minimum requirements for
the job class including professional certification and educational requirements. NE/HR Recruitment will
move screened candidates to “manager review” in iNFOR if the requirements are met for the position.
The hiring manager will review iNFOR applications and professional portfolios from each applicant and
notify NE/HR Recruitment of the applicants to move forward for interviews if required.
