NE/HR recruitment notifies the applicant of the offer. If accepted, NE/HR recruitment will notify the
candidate of the position appointment date and the salary via letter in iNFOR.
Upon the position appointment date, NPAS will send the hiring manager a Certificate of Advancement.
The hiring manager is may sign and present the certificate to the newly promoted nurse leader.
Application and Promotion Process: External Candidate
1. Position Posted in iNFOR
The hiring manager submits a request to recruit external candidates for the CN III and/or CN IV positions
in iNFOR. Positions must be posted for a minimum of 5 days or following the current HR guidelines.
2. External Applications Submitted
In addition to completing the application in iNFOR, the external applicant will submit the following in
iNFOR:
• 1 letter of recommendation from a professional nursing colleague
• An expanded resume to include:
o Work history
o Educational preparation
o Professional involvement (e.g. committees, workgroups)
o Performance improvement activities
o Educational projects and presentations
o Publications
o Research
o Awards & recognitions
o Relevant continuing education
o Professional certifications
o Course/skill certifications (e.g. BLS, ACLS, PALS)
o Professional organization/society memberships (e.g. ANA, Sigma Theta Tau)
Note: For external candidates, the expanded resume is submitted in lieu of a professional
portfolio.
3. Screening of Applications
NE/HR Recruitment will screen completed iNFOR applications based on the minimum requirements for
the job class including professional certification and educational requirements (see Promotion
Requirements for CN III and CN IV above).
Note: A professional certification relevant to the practice area and on the ANCC Magnet
approved list is preferred, but not required, at the time of application. If selected, candidates
without a current certification upon hire must obtain one within their probationary period. The
nurse manager is responsible for ensuring this is completed.
