• For CN III positions, a staff panel interview is optional.
• For CN IV positions, a staff panel interview is required.
After all interviews, the manager will select the final candidate.
5. NPAS Verification
After candidate selection, the hiring manager will submit the applicant’s expanded resume and letter of
recommendation to the NPAS Committee for verification. The manager may submit via email at
NursingProfessionalA@unchealth.unc.edu or to the NPAS Dropbox in the Center for Nursing Excellence

Note: As external candidates may be considering offers at other organizations, the NPAS
Committee prioritizes timely reviews of external submissions. Expect a decision from the NPAS
committee within 1 business day after submission.
The NPAS committee will review the submission and verify the candidate meets the Standards and
Behaviors of the position for which they are applying.
Hiring managers will be notified via email of the NPAS committee’s decision.

The hiring manager submits the official offer of the candidate through iNFOR and NE/HR recruitment.
Include the emailed notification of verification from the NPAS Committee with the offer.
NE/HR recruitment notifies the applicant of the offer. If accepted, NE/HR recruitment will notify the
candidate of the position appointment date and the salary via letter in iNFOR.
Upon the position appointment date, NPAS will send the hiring manager a Certificate of Advancement.
The hiring manager is responsible for signing and presenting the certificate to the newly promoted nurse
leader.
NPAS Committee Verification Process
CN III and CN IV portfolios (or expanded resumes for external candidates) will be accepted by the NPAS Committee
at any time. Once submitted, NPAS Administrative Support assigns the portfolio to an NPAS Committee member
for review and verification. To promote objectivity in reviews of internal candidates, portfolios are assigned to
NPAS Committee members from outside of the applicant’s service line.
