temptation and the attacks of Satan. He was promised to the church and came to indwell believers at
Pentecost (Acts 2). He comes to guarantee your salvation for all eternity.
Ephesians 1:13-15 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and
14
believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance
until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.
The Bible says that the Holy Spirit seals us which means we are declared God’s child whom no one can
take out of the family. The Holy Spirit is also a pledge or guarantee from God that He will keep His
promise to us. He promised to give you eternal life if you would believe. The Holy Spirit given to you
when you believed is the guarantee that you will receive what was promised: eternal life (2 Corinthians
1:21-22).
6. Your body becomes the temple of God.
When you became a believer, your body became the residence of God the Holy Spirit. He came to dwell
in your life to give you power to understand His Word and to live a victorious life over sin. Since God
dwells in our body, we should not do anything to harm it or diminish its capabilities to serve God. We
should avoid consuming certain foods, drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes, and anything else that could
damage the body, the temple of God. We should try to keep our bodies as healthy and fit as possible by
avoiding overeating, getting enough exercise, etc. so that we can serve the Lord as long as possible with
our bodies.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom
you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your
20
body. (ESV)
7. You became a New Creation
When you believe, the Bible says your life is changed. What you once did, you don’t do anymore. And
what you could not do, now you can. Your previous friends that had a poor influence on you should be
exchanged for new friends who love the Lord. Your old sinful habits in life should drop away, exchanged
to new godly habits. Your old attitude of rebellion has been replaced with a new submissive attitude
that strives to serve the Lord. God gives you a new capacity to produce Godly fruit in your life.
II Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away;
behold, the new has come.
Galatians 6: 22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness,
23
faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
8. You are adopted into the family of God.
When you believed, you exchanged families. You were born into slavery to your old sin nature, and your
family was with those who were in rebellion to God. But upon your faith, you became a child of God.
God literally adopted you into His family of believers and became your father, your daddy. Not only did
