Into the World

              Clouds break
              The
              Summer’s

              Back.

Three of the five words here are nebulous; the two readings they
permit give diametrically opposed meanings. In the first case,
summer begins, heralded by holes in the overcast sky: “break” is
intransitive, and the apostrophe represents elision. In the second,
summer ends, crushed by heavy storms: “break” is transitive, and
the apostrophe is possessive. Thus the words apply to both estival
         termini.
