We shall come forth as gold (Job 23:10):
“But He knows the way that I take;
When He has tested me, I shall come forth as gold.”
March 30, 2020: Wilma was taken to the hospital when she
tested positive for covid-19. She needed to be on oxygen
support. She also had pneumonia.
April 2020: Wilma was intubated, which has kept her
oxygen saturation level at 98%. Doctors sedated and
paralyzed her to allow the ventilator to do the breathing for
her. Wilma’s lungs have been badly hit by the virus. The
scan images showed that she had a severe stroke that may
have been caused by blood clotting, and she might not wake
up. The family was told that if things got worse at that point,
she would pass away. Her trajectory was downward, and she
was at the end of the line. Perry was asked if he needed
Wilma to have the last rites done.
May 2020: Wilma’s tracheostomy was successful. Her
condition remained stable, but she was on and off the
ventilator. Sadly, the prognosis based on the CT scan was
that she might not wake up at all. As Perry wrote, “This news
is heartbreaking. The only thing holding me up right now is
the belief that with God, nothing is impossible. I believe in
a miracle.
I’m looking forward to seeing Wilma wake up…”
After less than a week, during the Family’s Facetime, her
eyes opened wide for the entire video call. She was asked to
