DAY 24: THE SOVEREIGN LORD
“The pains of death surrounded me, and the pangs of
Sheoul laid hold of me; I found trouble and sorrow.
Then I called upon the name of the Lord:
“O Lord, I implore You, deliver my soul!”
Psalm 116: 3-4
August 2020: “Wilma’s fever could be because of her bed
sore; though it has not gone worse, it has not gone better.
Wilma had periods of posturing (decerebrating), which
caused her excruciating pain. They would give her stronger
pain medications to help her cope. Neuro-wise, Wilma
would respond appropriately to yes or no questions. When
asked to blink 4 times, she complied; blink 3 times, she
complied, and then, finally, twice, and she blinked twice.
Amazing indeed! When she saw the video of her son's
hamster, hoping to evoke laughter from her, she started
crying instead. She had shed tears and got emotional at
times, but that was the first time the family saw her cry for
a significantly longer period. She was groaning and had a
facial expression that was characterized as that of someone
crying. She cried for about 20 minutes or so. You just cannot
imagine the loneliness, longing, sadness, helplessness, fear,
anxiety, discouragement, exasperation, and other negative
emotions that have beset her. Maybe crying is good for her,
as it allows her to release whatever emotional distress and
tension she's feeling and also helps her flush out some
neurotoxins in her brain. Regardless of how trivial and
insignificant they may seem, her progress was still
progress,” Perry said.
