Reason To Sing

the news. “Sounds like a good plan for you. That will be great,
          Hudson.”
What I’m really thinking is, You’re going without me?
But of course he is. We’re separated now. He is free as a
bird. He can fly wherever he likes. Why not move to Nashville?
But my gut tells me he’s got an ulterior motive. There is no way
he is going to let go of me that easily. Or my career!
The bright side is it’s a relief to know Hudson won’t be
spying on us anymore. Showing up in parking lots late at night
after Gord’s gigs and confronting him. We’ll both be able to
breathe much easier once he’s gone.
There is some good career news in all of this mess, and I
decide to focus on that. I am going to Los Angeles! I have been
chosen to represent Canada on the TV show “Star Search” with
Ed McMahon. I auditioned several months ago but never got
a callback for the regular show. Now here I am, getting ready
to represent my country in a two-hour special - “Star Search
International.” Maybe it’s a sign of better days ahead? This
crazy music business actually working out? New adventures for
          Gord and me?
All I know is Hudson and I will be on opposite ends of the
country. And that is a very good thing.
