Social Media and You
This is especially true if you use your phone in bed
while it is dark outside. Many people make the mistake
of telling themselves they’ll only check their Facebook
alerts for five minutes, only to discover an hour later that
they’d been aimlessly scrolling through some nonsense
on Twitter.
Do not allow the algorithms on social media platforms
that are designed to keep your attention for as long as
possible while also stealing your essential sleep to do so.
Combining factors that contribute to poor sleep quality,
with a reduction in overall sleep time can be dangerous
to your health.
It’s possible that social media is more addictive than
smoking or drinking. It has a strong pull on many people,
causing them to check it constantly without even thinking
about it because it is so compelling.
Stop using social media if you discover that it is affecting
your health and other aspects of your life negatively. If,
on the other hand, you decide to stay, make a conscious
decision to spend less time mindlessly scrolling through
social media and, as a result, maintain a healthy
relationship with it.
