could be summarized by a single rating on a scale of five
points. If you have a low rating, it is possible that you will
be isolated from the rest of society. On the other hand, if
you have a high rating, you will have access to wonderful
opportunities and unique advantages. This is what a
social rating or social scoring system is all about.

In fact, similar systems exist in China, where its society
is heavily monitored and tracked digitally through face
recognition, digital wallets, and regular surveillance.

The social credit system that the Chinese government
has proposed is one of the most well-known. However
China, is not the only country that is implementing social

agencies and government organizations in other parts
of the world, including China, Japan, Russia, UAE, US,
and Brazil, to name a few. Numerous non-governmental
entities, including many insurance companies located
all over the world, have either announced or deployed
systems that will enable its operators to effectively
gather information about the behavior of individuals for
the purpose of using it in significant decision-making
processes. For instance, in the state of New York, life
insurers are permitted to make decisions regarding their
customers based on the information found in social
networks. Information obtained from a tracking device
that has been purposefully installed in a vehicle can
be used by the auto insurance industry to devise new
