A New SociAl ScoriNg

stratification. The three factors that make up the
foundation of social stratification are wealth, power, and
prestige. In fact, the social ranking system will have a
direct impact on these three factors.

Wealth: It’s likely that a child born to parents with low
financial standing won’t get the chance to enroll in
a reputable, high-priced school or university. As a
consequence of this, the child has a much lower chance
of obtaining a decent education and getting a good job
with a good salary, which will severely limit their potential
income in the future. On the other hand, an individual who
has a good social score because of charitable donations
(for example), will have access to the best jobs, which
means that they can always maintain a steady rating by
continuing to donate to charitable organizations.

Power: When it comes to power, a citizen who has a low
social rating has a decreased chance of being able to hold
a management position in either state or commercial
enterprises. As a result, power remains concentrated
in the hands of those who devised the ranking system
in the first place and established the guidelines for
determining how points are earned. This decreases the
chances of breaking through the glass ceiling.

Prestige: One of the primary tools that the administrators
of the various social scoring systems that are in use
today use to exercise control is the concept of prestige.
The opposite of this is the public shaming that can be
inflicted on individuals. Information about “undesirable
citizens” located in a particular area will be made
available to the public, and even people who are not
regarded as “undesirable” but communicate with those
