RECLAIM YOUR DIGITAL GOLD

                          Chapter Summary

Social media has a significant impact on our ability to
interact, form connections, acquire and disseminate
information, and make decisions. Anyone, regardless of
age or demographics, can use social media to reach a
larger audience than they would have otherwise. Social
media can be used to promote a cause or to provide
assistance to others. Businesses can use social media
to promote their products and services. You can start
following people who inspire and support you on social
          media if you’re an entrepreneur.
Businesses can benefit from enhancing the consumer
experience through the use of social media. Negative
comments are unavoidable, but social media
professionals must learn to ignore them. Social media
has both physical and mental health consequences, as it
is easier for people to compare themselves to others. This
can result in anxiety, dissatisfaction, and cyberbullying.
The key is moderation; you should spend no more than
half an hour per day on social media. You can become
a jerk on social media without even realizing it. Fear
of missing out (FOMO) is the source of the anxiety
you experience when you are afraid of missing out on
someone else’s good time. Instagram celebrities pose in
designer outfits on their well-proportioned bodies. Seeing
images of so many people who are supposed to be ideal
(according to societal norms) can make you aware of
how your appearance differs from those images.
