          In this chapter, we will delve deeper into the benefits of
          social media for both professionals and individuals, as
          well as how data is generated through our use of social
          media.



          A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF SOCIAL MEDIA
          DATA



          It should come as no surprise that the concept of privacy
          will almost certainly be considered archaic in the future.
          You can  learn  a  lot  about  someone  by  browsing  their
          social media accounts, thanks to the geolocation check-
          ins, tagged photos, event RSVPs, online timestamps, and
          other  information  they share.  A person’s  social  media

          data  profile  potentially  contains  all  of  the  information
          that  can be  known about them, such as  their  political
          beliefs, relationship status, college alma mater, and any
          other readily shareable information.

          People are almost always willing to hand over personal
          data to social media platforms such as Facebook and

          Twitter in exchange for access to those platforms. This
          allows  for the  mining  and  organization  of all  of this
          data in order to gain a better understanding of not only
          individual users but also entire user segments.

          The term “social media data” refers to a wide range of
          online  information, including  photos, purchase  history,

          active hours spent  on social  media, engagement  rate
          with  specific  types  of  content,  and  a  variety  of  other
