Chapter Summary
We have seen that there is a technological imbalance
known as the digital divide that exists all over the world.
The divide between those who have access to modern
technology and those who do not continues to grow. As
a result of the imbalance, digitalization is not occurring
equally. The problem is that not all cultures have access
to computers or the Internet.
We’ve also seen that the divide is related to gender,
socioeconomic status and other demographics, as well
as education. It can also be defined as a difference in
the way technology is used and accessed, as well as
keeping up with the most recent innovations.
Certain socioeconomic groups have fewer opportunities
to access the same technologies, and as a result, the
educational gap widens in schools with limited resources
and support.
