SESSION 6 : Song of Songs Chapter 2:8-10 (TPT)
The wall is described as “our” wall by the Shulamite because she thinks
it is a wall erected by both of them—a place of enclosure where she
and her Beloved King can languish in each other’s company, totally
oblivious and separate from the needs of the outside world. She is,
however, deceived. Her King has played no part in its construction, and
what’s more, He will not force her to come out from behind it either.
Yes, He will leap over mountains of difficulty to reach His Beloved—
but we have to choose whether or not we will come out from walls of
comfort, self-protection, and preservation. The Holy Spirit will not
          force us.
The Shulamite has become introspective and would rather remain
enclosed and cut off from the outside world, enjoying sweet fellowship
with Jesus—but God has a plan and a purpose for her life, and for ours
          too.
This is an important lesson for all of us who seek the Lord. We can also
be guilty of building our own little protective walls. This is often
because we fear the reality of living out the spiritual life, which is to go
out in the power of the Holy Spirit and play our part in making disciples
          of all men.
We need to be sensitive and obedient to the shifting wind of the Spirit.
Yes, there are seasons—such as the one she has just walked through—
where we remain separated for love. This is absolutely vital. Reinhard
Bonnke, a famous evangelist, once wrote:
