RADICAL LOVE
The Holy Spirit begins a deeper work of sanctification, which we can
yield to—allowing Him to dispel the darkness—or we can choose to
remain in hiding, refusing to acknowledge and deal with what He has
highlighted. He always comes to us in love, and to set us free—never
to condemn.
Irrespective of whether we allow Him access into the unresolved areas
of our lives, we will always be His “darling.” However, He is looking
for an intimate and passionate relationship, not a casual affair. He is
looking for a submissive, yielded, devoted Bride—not just a girlfriend.
He will woo and pursue us with His love and kindness until we are so
convinced of His faithful love and acceptance that we offer ourselves
totally on the altar of sacrificial love.
This is true maturity—a place we are all heading towards. Therefore,
when we are still afraid of letting Him into these areas, we can take
heart, because He will continue to blossom in love within our hearts
until His goodness, kindness, and mercy overtake our desire to live with
those “little foxes” (see 2:15) that hinder our relationship with Him.
The NIV brings a totally different perspective to the table:
“Look! There he stands behind our wall, gazing through the windows,
peering through the lattice.”
The first thing to notice here is that her King is standing—He is poised
for action. It is time to move out from behind the wall and go with Him,
into whatever situation He may choose.
