SESSION 6 : Song of Songs Chapter 2:8-10 (TPT)
Even as I was writing these words, I felt the tangible presence of God’s
loving heart for all of us. Oh, how we need to allow Him to apprehend
and captivate us, so He can reveal the height and depth of His love to
our brokenness and make us whole in Him.
A few words of a song by Amanda Cook express one of the reasons we
need to make Him our first love. As you read them, my prayer is that
the Lord will allow you to experience their true meaning in your heart:
“Uncontrolled, uncontained,
Your love is a fire burning bright for me.
It’s not just a spark, it’s not just a flame,
Your love is a LIGHT THAT ALL THE WORLD WILL SEE.
THAT ALL THE WORLD WILL SEE…”
In response to her entreaty in chapter 1, verse 4: “Take me away with
you—let us hurry” (NIV), the Shulamite is nevertheless surprised by
the swift approach of her Beloved Bridegroom-King in verse 8, as He
comes to her in a totally new way.
He is not choosing to lounge with her in green pastures under apple
trees, or on couches of comfort on this occasion. He comes leaping and
bounding over the mountains and hills with love and joy, overflowing
with the resurrection life that defeats the enemy.
In the Bible, mountains and hills can signify the obstacles and trials that
the enemy uses to try to block the path of ascent into our calling and
the deeper things of the Lord. Similarly, hills and mountains can also
