RADICAL LOVE

Another observation regarding verse eight is that it does not say He

walks over the mountains and hills —He leaps! When we call out to
Him, He is there! Love leaps to the aid of His Beloved!

           In Psalm 46:1(NIV) it says:

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

“Ever-present help” means a help that is reliable—or proven to be a

stronghold in the past—so that any future calamity is no reason to fear.

As we progress further into the chapter, we will see that the Shulamite

was still not convinced of the goodness of her Beloved and feared to go
          with Him

In verse 9 of Song of Songs (NIV), we read the description of Him:

"My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag."

These animals have tremendous strength but are nevertheless gentle

creatures that become startled and flee from sudden movements or loud
noises. This speaks of how we are to position ourselves for the intimate

presence of the Holy Spirit. It is when we have quieted our spirits and

are still that we can sense His gentle approach.

                                                                             2
Another interesting point about deer is that they are magnificent
“fugitive animals—never meant to be tamed. They belong to the wild,
following their own inner laws of joyous, unbounded freedom.”
