other support from my life over a three-year period. I had to depend on
Him, and He proved Himself faithful.
When we cultivate a relationship with Him, we will discover that the
strong and reliable everlasting arms of Jesus are forever underneath us.
They are positioned twenty-four-seven to catch us when we fall and to
shield us when we are under enemy fire.
Earlier in this study, I explained that gold is flexible and malleable. One
of my students made a very important point. She said that if His arms
were not gold and had instead been of iron or steel, then they would not
be able to hug us! However, as they are gold, we can rest assured that
they are there to comfort and restore us when we are hurt and broken.
“There is no one like the God of Jeshurun, who rides across the
heavens to help you and on the clouds in his majesty. The eternal God
is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.”
(Deuteronomy 33:27)
The verse goes on to describe His body as “shining ivory decorated
with lapis lazuli.” This is a description of the glorious majesty, purity,
beauty, and timelessness of Christ. Ivory is a white, extremely durable,
and long-lasting material. Jesus was there not only before matter; He
was there before time. He did not come into being—He always was.
“In the beginning (before all time) was the Word (Christ), and the
Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. He was present
originally with God. All things were made and came into existence
