RADICAL LOVE
His lips are described as “lilies dripping with myrrh.” How true this is.
The words that come forth from the lips of Jesus can sometimes pierce,
as is stated in Hebrews 4:12 (NIV):
“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-
edged sword, and penetrates even to the dividing of soul and spirit,
joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”
However, they also heal, bring encouragement, comfort, and restore.
Whatever words come from the lips of our Beloved, we can rest in the
assurance that their purpose is to bring life.
Lilies are a symbol of purity and innocence. To compare the lips of
Jesus with lilies is to say that His words are true and sincere—there is
no hidden agenda behind them. Whether sent to pierce or heal, they are
uttered for the absolute redemptive benefit, equipping, and well-being
of the recipient.
Verse 14 describes His arms as “rods of gold set with topaz.” Rods are
used as supporting structures—they reinforce, stabilize, and hold up.
Gold is the most precious metal quoted in the Bible, and topaz
symbolizes strength for the whole body. Topaz is often given as a gift
to celebrate the 4th and 19th anniversaries of marriage and is a symbol
of love, affection, rejuvenation, and manifestation.
What is being said here is that Jesus Christ is our absolute support
structure in life. I know this to be true because God removed every
