THE LIFE OF A TEENAGE GIRL
“Isn’t that weird?”
“Oh, I mean… if you don’t want to—”
“I was just joking, silly! Of course, we can walk together,” I
chuckled, patting his back softly.
“So, do you live around here?” I asked, looking at him.
“Uh, kind of. It’s like six minutes to my house.”
“Well, mine’s like five minutes.”
“Oh, okay. By the way, do you think those girls in class are like…
sisters or something?”
I didn’t know who he was talking about until he said sisters.
“Uh, you mean Madelyn, Elisha, and Aria?”
“Yeah, are they sisters?”
“Um, why are you asking me?”
I didn’t want him to know that I was best friends with them. Then
he’d think I was one of them—because some people in our class didn’t
really like them. And I just got him as a new friend. I couldn’t lose him.
He looked confused and said, “Uh, I thought you guys were
friends?”
“I mean, we are—well, were—until we stopped talking when
school started. And they’re not sisters; they’re just friends. I was their
friend too—best friend, technically—but… I don’t think I am
anymore.”
Then we went quiet. We turned onto a street, and then he saw his
house.
“Ah, that’s my house right there.”
