THE LIFE OF A TEENAGE GIRL
little unexpected, but there was something kind about it. Something
real. I let the feeling go as we reached our street. Without another word,
we turned to our homes.
The next day, I needed to do something—something that made a
statement. Bold. Unapologetic. After everything they’d done, I wasn’t
just going to let it slide. This wasn’t about revenge exactly… but I
wanted them to feel a fraction of what they’d put me through.
After school, I sent a simple text asking them to meet me at the
park. What they didn’t know was that I’d brought my neighbor’s
bulldog, Hulk—huge, loud, and surprisingly obedient when he liked
you.
A few minutes later, they showed up… with Aria. Of course, they
did, as if they couldn’t go anywhere without dragging her along. The
second they spotted the dog, their faces dropped—and then came the
screaming. I didn’t even have to say anything. The look on their faces
said enough.
Elisha climbed onto the ladder by the community center wall and
yelled, “Charlie, what the heck is wrong with you?!”
“You know we hate dogs!” Madelyn added.
“Well, I told you you’re going to regret this. Weren’t you
prepared?” I crossed my arms, and the harness on the dog tightened
slightly.
“Prepared? If I knew, I wouldn’t even have come anyway! Why
did you do this? Just because of the friendship break?” Elisha said,
coming down from the ladder slowly.
