t was 11:30 a.m. when I was brought to the hospital; now it’s
noon, and my parents have finally come—and they brought my
sister. But they looked really worried.
“Dahlia! Oh my gosh, are you okay?” Mom said, rushing to my
side.
“We were worried you wouldn’t last five minutes in that forest,”
Dad added.
“It’s okay, I’m fine. I just… I just fainted, that’s all.”
“Just fainted? Honey, you’re burning up! Did you even take your
Fabrazyme with you to the woods?” She slowly touched my cheeks,
her eyes roaming around my body.
I hesitated to talk. This was never a good idea. “Uh—”
“The doctor just told us before we came here that it was a flower
that caused all this, and you weren’t following your health protocols?”
Dad said, cutting me off.
“Okay, okay, you wanna know everything? Fine. Today, the
principal allowed us to go for a walk in the forest. Then one of my
friends called me to come look at a flower, which was called a
moonflower, and I didn’t know it was dangerous. I didn’t know
anything in the woods was dangerous, so I touched it. At first, I didn’t
really care about it, but then, in our cabin, I started turning red. Even
