SICK DAHLIA

Before she could answer, she touched it and started playing with
          it.

“What are you doing? It could be dangerous!”

“Oh, please, there’s nothing dangerous here. C’mon, touch it!”
               “Um, okay.”

Right after I touched it, we heard the teachers calling us to come
back to the cabin. And as I was running back, I felt a little weird—like

I wanted to faint or something.
While we were in our cabin, I was chatting with my friends, and

that’s when I realized I had to take my enzyme meds. But I didn’t want

just to say, “Guys, I gotta take my meds,” because that would be
weird—they already think I’m weird. And I didn’t want anyone to

know I had a big enzyme problem. I mean, I know they know about it,
but it was better if I just kept it to myself.

After five minutes, I was turning red.
“Dahlia, are you okay? You look like you’re boiling,” Lizzie

          asked.

“Yeah, you’re turning red,” Emily added.
               “Uh, yeah, I’m fine, I just…”

Mara interrupted and said, “You just need to take your meds or

          something?”
“What?” I asked, feeling the enzymes already rising.

               “You know, your enzyme problem?”
“Oh my God! You’re doing it again! Guys, how many times do I

have to tell you, I’m fi—”
