CHAPTER 10

hen I woke up, I saw a girl sitting on a chair, looking
worried.
“Oh my God, Dahlia, you’re awake!”
“Mara? Wha–what’s going on? Where am I?” I asked.
“Um, in a hospital.”
“What? What do you mean, hospital? What happened to me?!”
“You fainted last night in the cabin while we were chatting.”
“Fainted? How did I faint?”
“I don’t know. I guess it had something to do with your enzyme
problem.”
“What? But that only happens when I’m hallucinating or when I
get bad reactions from my body. And where’s Lizzie and Emily?”
The thing is, I knew exactly how my enzymes acted up, but I didn’t
know why.
“They didn’t come. Everyone is still in the woods. We brought you
to the hospital because you weren’t waking up, and we didn’t have
anything to make you wake up.”
“I’m so confused. You mean we’re not in the woods, but in a
hospital in the middle of nowhere?”
“No. We’re back in Miami. The doctors are just checking up on
you to see if you’re okay to go back to the woods.”
“And if I’m not?”
