My whole family was startled when I said that. I blinked rapidly,
still surprised this even happened.
“Dahlia! That’s way too extreme! Do you know how weak your
body is right now? It’s trying its best to heal up and be strong, but you
just had to be dumb and touch that flower!” Mom yelled.
And that’s when I realized—I messed up. Really badly. I knew I
wasn’t going to have a good day now.
“We are going back home, and you’re not to leave the house unless
you have our permission and we agree,” Mom said firmly.
“What? No, Mom, you can’t do that!”
“Oh yes, I can. According to discipline, your dad and I can decide
how to treat you well!”
Mom quickly left the room, holding Olivia’s hand tightly in hers.
Dad folded his arms. “The doctor may have said one or two nights
here, but once you’re discharged, we’re in charge. And at home, you’ll
follow our rules.”
