THE LIFE OF A TEENAGE GIRL
“I guess you’ll be going back home.” She shrugged like nothing
was wrong with me right now.
“What? I can’t go back home! I actually enjoy being in the woods.
And I don’t just faint because of my enzyme issue!”
A doctor then entered the room and checked my IV.
“Uh… you’re Dahlia, right?” the doctor asked.
“Yeah,” I answered.
“Well, I’m Dr. Punjabi, and I’m here to check on your health issues
and results.”
“Is it okay? Can I still go back to the woods?”
“Well… unfortunately, no. Your enzymes were really high and
getting out of control. It seems to be a plant that’s causing the issue.”
“What? What do you mean by a plant?”
“Did you touch any plants around? Like toxic ones?”
“Uh, I’m not sure about toxic plants, but I did touch a flower.”
Dr. Punjabi crossed his arms and tilted his head. “What flower,
may I ask?”
“Uh, a moonflower, I think.”
“Wow… Dahlia, that’s a very dangerous flower. It could have
killed you by now!”
“What? But Mara said it wasn’t dangerous!” I looked at Mara, and
she acted like she didn’t know anything I was saying.
“Okay, well, dangerous or not, your blood is still not doing well.
That means you’ll be staying in this hospital until you’re well—at least
for a day or two.”
