THE LIFE OF A TEENAGE GIRL
On the bus, we were singing, dancing, and shouting happily. This
was going to be the best trip ever.
When we arrived, there were cabins everywhere and a campfire. It
was warm and quiet (apart from the school kids), and it was so green—
the trees were green, the grass was dark green, and we could hear birds
singing and chirping in the sky.
“Oh my gosh, this is so cool!” Mara said.
“Yeah, but there’s much more, right?” I asked.
“Oh yeah! Just wait.”
After waiting and waiting, we finally went for a walk around the
forest.
“Please, everyone, don’t get lost or touch anything that looks weird
or toxic!” the principal yelled.
Well, as for me, I was going anywhere I wanted—so I might get
lost. I ran around, seeing rivers and green swamps with colorful, moist
frogs in them. The air around was smooth and perfect. The trees seemed
alive with energy, breathing out into the warm air. It was amazing.
Mara, who was behind me, yelled, “Dahlia! Come here, look at
what I found!”
“What?” I asked, running to her.
“A white moonflower—so cool, right?”
“Uh, what’s a moonflower?”
“Oh, it’s a flower that comes around Lunar Year and blooms on a
full moon. It’s pretty cool.”
“Is it toxic?”
