CHAPTER 5
A
fter spending some time with my friends, we decided to go
back home. It was 5:45 p.m., so I went to take a bath and
then go for a walk. Alone.
I know it might be dangerous and unprotected, but since I’m
sixteen, my mom allows me to do it—and many people drive around
my neighborhood, so if something were to happen, everyone would
notice.
As I was walking, I closed my eyes and started counting in my
head. That’s what I do when I walk or meditate; it helps me relax and
calm my mind. But this time, I wasn’t paying attention to where I was
going and bumped into someone. The person caught me before I fell on
them—and that person was… Caelum?
The question—how many times am I going to meet him?—made
me wonder if, next time, I might accidentally kiss him.
“Whoa, watch it! Wait—Aliss?” Caelum said.
“Caelum?” I stared at him.
His eyes roamed all over me. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. Sorry I hit you, I wasn’t looking,” I said, feeling a
sharp ache in my head.
“Yeah, maybe you should get some glasses—or sense-is.”
I don’t know why I was meeting so many rude people this year.
How could he say that?
