CHAPTER 6

fter we finished talking, I went to my room and started
writing in my diary, but I ended up falling asleep. Mom then
came in later and was surprised to see me still dozing off.
“Aliss, wake up!”
“What happened?” I opened my eyes, yawning.
“Honey, you slept for three hours! What’s going on? Are you okay?”
I slept for three hours. I know I sleep for a long time sometimes,
but I’ve never slept for more than two hours.
“No, I’m okay. Maybe I was just so tired from doing chores for an
hour,” I said, giving Mom an annoyed look.
She chuckled and flicked her hand at me. “Oh, c’mon! It was just
ten chores. I do more than that anyway!”
Then she left—just like that—not even giving me a forehead kiss
or an I love you. But I don’t blame her; she’s always like that, unlike
some moms who hug and give their kids candy for doing a lot of chores.
Anyway, I went to change my clothes and go for a walk—to
exercise my body and get back its strength. But mostly, to say thank
you to Caelum for helping me get home safely. Only if I saw him
again… and luckily, I did.
“Caelum!” I called out his name.
“Hey!” He looked up from his phone and saw me turning from my
street.
