CHAPTER 7
I
went back home before anything worse happened, and after that
night, I felt so stiff—like I couldn’t move. It was all in my head,
non-stop. The idea of talking to my best friends about this came
to my mind, so I texted them and told them we should meet at the park
the next morning.
“Hey, Aliss, so, what’s up?” Jessie asked as we sat down on the
bench.
“Something shocking happened last night. Again.”
Then I explained everything to them and still felt heartbroken
inside.
“Omg, Caelum is such a brat! I already realized it when he first
came to school,” Celia said, rolling her eyes, trying to blame him.
“Yeah, you didn’t deserve it,” Jessie added.
“No, you guys are just saying that because you want to make me
feel better.”
“Uh, no?” Jessie said.
“Why would we do that? We’re your best friends, and you were
the first person we talked to when we were new—until we became
friends, and then best friends. Since ninth grade! That’s three years
now,” Craise said, touching my shoulder.
“And we can’t lie to you,” Jessie added. “You never did, so why
would we?”
