SHAUNA’S STAND–UP
“Kids, you’d better come down before your food gets cold,
because I’m not cooking another plate for you!” my mom yelled from
the kitchen.
I jogged downstairs to the table to see a delicious English
breakfast, smelling sweet and savory.
“Mmm, grilled tomatoes, crispy hash browns, and sausages!
Thanks, Mom.” I smiled and sat down.
“Where’s your brother?” Mom asked, cutting veggies at the table.
As soon as I was about to answer, Aaron came downstairs in his
school uniform, looking like a gangster who lives in the hood.
He sat on the counter stool and said, “Sup.” I don’t know if he was
saying hi to me or all of us.
“Oh my gosh, Aaron! What is this ugly, disgusting outfit you’re
wearing?” Mom exclaimed.
“Relax,” Aaron said, leaning on the counter. “It’s my school
uniform.”
“That you changed into some ugly, broke-assassin fit?” I joked.
Aaron and I laughed, but Mom wasn’t having it.
“Okay, that’s enough of the jokes, both of you.”
“Yeah, stop with the act,” Dad said as he came in. “Finish your
breakfast and get to school. The bus is almost here.”
We quickly ate our breakfast, put on our jackets and boots, and
went to the school bus.
