CHAPTER 3

          A
nyway, at our last gym class, Mrs. Davison, our coach,

decided to let us do whatever we wanted.
“I guess it’s a free period then,” Martin said, resting his

          hands on his knees.
               “Yeah,” I copied him.

“Wanna just sit and watch the class do stupid things or play

          something?”
“Um—” Before Martin could answer, the same girl from earlier

          came running toward us.
               “Hey!”

“Um… hi, do we know you?” Martin asked, looking into her dark

          green eyes.
“I’m Dietra, from Arts and Spanish class.”

“Oh! So you’re that girl I was sitting next to when I told that joke!”
          I chuckled under my breath.

“Yeah! I’ll be honest, that was the first time I’ve ever heard such
a cool joke like that,” she smiled.

“So you guys already know each other?” Martin asked, glancing at

          both of us.
               “Yeah,” I said.

“So… want to play tag or something?” Dietra asked.
               “Sure!” I stood up straight.
