                    en minutes later, the bus finally came. I got on and went to

                    the back to meet my friend, Martin—the only friend I’ve had
                    since school started.

               “Hey,” I waved and sat down.
               “Hi,” he smiled.

               “So, did you get the news from the school that they’re bringing

          clubs?” he asked.
               “Clubs? What do you mean?” I tilted my head.

               “Like extracurricular activities. Your parents should’ve gotten the
          message.”

               “Oh yeah, I actually can’t believe they did that. I never knew the

          school would be into those things.”
               “Mhm, but are you planning on joining one?”

               “Mm, I don’t know… maybe. Are you?”
               “I  think  so.  My  parents—Mom  especially—would  lecture  me

          about joining anyway.”
               “Oh, okay.”

               After that talk, we reached Parkland High and went straight to our

          classes. My first period was Art. I sat in the middle of the class, next to
          a blonde girl.
