THE LIFE OF A TEENAGE GIRL
But before I went to the comedy show, there was one last thing I
had to do at the last second. Since the show was starting in about two
hours, I decided to meet my friends at Prakie Park for a talk — surely
about the show.
I was sitting on the bench when I saw Dietra and Martin coming
my way.
I got up. “Hi, guys!”
“Hi, Shauna!” Dietra waved.
Surprisingly, I saw both of them holding hands. I was confused for
a second. Are they dating? Since when? And why didn’t they tell me?
I really didn’t want to talk about it, but it kept distracting me.
“Uh, I brought you guys here to… to—”
“To what? What’s the news?” Martin cut me off. But I actually
didn’t know why it was so frustrating to tell them.
“I’m doing a comedy show today — at school.”
“Really? That’s great!” Dietra exclaimed.
And I was surprised. “Yeah, I guess. But wait, aren’t you guys
confused, or shocked — maybe even upset I didn’t tell you earlier or
something?”
“No,” Martin said. “Why would we be? Maybe you were busy
practicing for the show or something, right?”
“Right, yeah. I was actually busy learning for a test also,” I uttered.
“Why were you doing that? Our last test for this year was a week
ago.” Dietra tilted her head.
