SHAUNA’S STAND–UP

I reached the show right at 12:04, then quickly went backstage and
got ready. I already saw my comedy class in front, waiting to be called.

Other kids were competing too, so it wasn’t just us.

I made a deal with my parents, and I know they’re serious about
this, so for sure they should be here—waiting and sitting in the front—

to watch me do my comedy.
I already had the words and introduction I was going to say. I had

two jokes, and if that’s not enough, I don’t know what is.
Soon, the clock on stage hit 12:10, and it was finally time to start.

Two kids from my class went on stage and did their comedy, then two

kids from other classes came on stage and did theirs. But then it was
my turn—my turn and my time to shine.

I first walked up to Mrs. Colleen, who was holding a clipboard and
          standing behind the stage curtain.

“Mrs., I’m ready.” I raised my shoulders with boldness.
“Alright, Shauna,” she said, writing my name on the clipboard.
“Get on the stage and do your comedy magic!”
With bravery and boldness, I went onto the stage and held the
microphone. Then I saw my parents, my brother, and my friends sitting

in the front on the right side. I was really glad they were here, especially

because my parents were smiling at me.
I took a deep breath, closed my eyes for a second, and said,

“Hi, I’m Shauna Williams, and I’m a teen who loves to talk about
comedy, tell jokes, and wants to be a future comedian in life. And I’m

not just being a comedian for fun, but to make people laugh and smile.”
