daughter, never to return. After all this, she ended up
having a son for him.
It was all downhill from here. I call it the forgotten
years. My baby girl and I were happier together. My son
suggested we buy a condo together, which I thought was
a good idea. The problem was that I had no money. But
somehow, we did—because by this time, I had landed a
good job with Tribar Industries, where I worked for
seventeen years. When I said “good job”, I was paid ten
dollars an hour (you know, they really valued their
employees back then).
A New Chapter
After my separation, I realized I needed a car. Learning
to drive was a challenge filled with many difficult
experiences, but even after I had mastered it, owning a
car seemed impossible—I had no credit history. My
husband had never allowed me to cosign for anything,
so when his credit collapsed, he was left to deal with it
alone.
