church. The preaching was good, but I was scared to
death. I will never forget him—a very small guy, about
five feet tall, with a voice like thunder. He preached
from Matthew 24. I swear I was going to die that night
and go straight to hell because I was not baptized. They
had this pool all set up to baptize the same night if you
would let them. But I was not quite ready to be a
Seventh-day Adventist.
So, after, I went back to Oakwood. I was telling the
pastor night and day that I wanted to be baptized. They
were making plans to take a group of us to another place
with a pool when they discovered that there was a pool
under the pulpit right there at Oakwood. It only needed
to be cleaned and filled up. We were overjoyed. People
were getting baptized every month. All went well
throughout this period, as I was taught by a wonderful
man of God and his wife, Pastor Andrew and his wife.

I attended that church for over twenty years and made
lots of long-lasting friends. I’ve been to so many places
with the ladies' group all over the United States. As a
