member of the women’s group, I had the privilege of
          accompanying them everywhere. My most memorable

          trip was my pastor’s wife’s fiftieth birthday, when we

          went  on  a  fourteen-day  cruise.  We  stopped  at  five
          different islands. We had a service on board, as well as

          a real birthday party—so memorable. Those were the
          days.


          I  always  wrote,  and  I  wrote  her  a  beautiful  poem.

          Because  of  moving  so  many  times,  I  lost  all  of  my
          writings. Another memorable trip was to Ocean City,

          Maryland. This was a city out in the ocean. To get to the
          hotel, we had to take a boat. That was an interesting

          night,  but  it  prepared  me  for  my  cruise.  Another
          enjoyable trip was to North Carolina. They were told

          that a group of Canadians was coming, so they had the

          square all nicely  decorated, with  a banner flying that
          said, “Welcome to the Canadians.” When the bus pulled

          up,  there  we  were—a  busload  of  Black  folks.  They
          asked, “Are you Canadian?” Needless to say, they were

          not  impressed  because  they  didn’t  know  there  were
          Black Canadians. But we sang at a church that Saturday
